Hassle Free African Kayaking Trips

A big Happy New Year from the banks of the River Nile

Kayak the Nile has had a busy few months with Christmas holidaymakers heading out for some sun and warm water.

Below we’ve put a few new packages together as well as the links to our 2010 brochures. The packages include two fantastic new programmes that help put back into the community that we all use as our kayaking playground.  The Trips include helping Softpower education renovate local primary schools and a new trip that helps teach local school children and fishermen safety and water confidence. In addition we have a brand new skills booster course for paddlers who feel their kayaking has reached a plateau.

The New Bujagali Dam looks set to close the river in January 2011. So if you want to get out and paddle the Silverback section, you had better start booking tickets soon.  Once the Dam goes ahead we will loose 8kms of world Class white water. All is not lost however as we will still have over 60kms of huge volume rapids and the World’s best playwaves.

So whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced paddler, or even if you just want us to help out with logistics for your trip let us know and we can make your stay on the Nile a memorable one.

Remember we are based here 365 days a year so we can run our courses and packages any time to suit you.

All the best for 2010 and hopefully we will see you on the Nile soon

New for 2010

Pass on Your Skills!!

10 day kayaking trip teaching water safety skills to local school children.

Over 300 fisherman and commuters drown every year on Lake Victoria, Many more on the River Nile. A lot of these fatalities are avoidable with some basic water safety skills. This trip is aimed at passing on these skills to school children so hopefully future generations will be safe on the water.

Over the Ten days we visit 7 different schools and fishing villages along the banks of the river.  The aim of the visits is to teach local Ugandan school children and fishermen water confidence and safety skills. Most of the families spend a lot of time near or on the water and have never had the benefit of being taught basic safety skills.

Kayakers are the perfect candidates to offer this training. Alongside the Kayak the Nile Team we teach foundation level water safety and of course a bit of kayaking to local schools on the banks of the river.  Skills passed on can be as simple as a few swimming lessons, or just even carrying a plastic jerry can as a form of buoyancy. As with any of our trips and courses there will be plenty of time to explore the river and kayak every day.

The Trip is based at Bujagali Falls for the duration. Each day we combine a 3-4 hour paddle session with a visit to a local school or community.

10% of the trip cost goes directly into a fund to purchase lifejackets for distribution during the trip.

We can tailor this trip to suit any level of kayaker. This 10 day Trip is aimed at groups of 5 or more paddlers. Perfect for Clubs, schools or University groups.
