1 + 2 week
Introduction to whitewater
kayaking course

Build solid foundations on the Nile.

Your journey into kayaking starts here.

Learning to kayak takes more than a quick introduction. It’s a journey of practice, discovery, and building confidence step by step. Our 1–2 Week Beginner Course is designed to give you the time and guidance to really grow as a paddler. Whether you stay for one week or extend to two, you’ll have the chance to learn at your own pace while experiencing the unique rhythm of life on the Nile.

With warm water, reliable sunshine, and one of the world’s greatest rivers at your doorstep, this is the ideal setting to start your kayaking story. You’ll spend your days developing new skills on calm water and beginner-friendly rapids, and your evenings relaxing in Jinja, a place where river culture and Ugandan life flow together.

What You Can Expect

  • Courses tailored to complete beginners, designed around your personal progress

  • 5 days of coaching across a 1-week course, or 10 days for the 2-week option

  • A balance of flatwater training, controlled rapid runs, and playful sessions to build confidence

  • The opportunity to begin working towards a kayak roll and self-rescue skills

  • A strong focus on reading water and understanding how rivers move

  • Encouragement, guidance, and support from experienced instructors

Course Format

  • 1 Week Option: 7 days in total — 5 days of coaching, plus arrival and departure days

  • 2 Week Option: 14 days in total — 10 days of coaching, plus arrival and departure days

  • Optional rest days can be arranged to break up the course, giving you time to explore Jinja or simply recover.

Why Choose a Longer Course?

Unlike short introductions, a week or more gives you space to make real progress. You’ll be able to revisit skills, build confidence gradually, and leave with a strong foundation for future paddling. If you extend to two weeks, you’ll have the time to refine your technique, handle more variety in river conditions, and go home feeling like a true kayaker.

By the end of your course, you’ll have not just new skills, but also the experience of living and learning on one of the world’s most iconic rivers.

Accommodation and Transport Made Simple

For the 1-week course, you’ll spend five nights camping by the river, with an airport pick-up on arrival to make starting your adventure simple and stress-free.

If you choose the 2-week course, this extends to ten nights of camping with breakfast, and airport pick-up is included for all participants. Groups booking the full two weeks also receive a return transfer at the end of their stay, while one-on-one courses remain arrival-only.

Accommodation upgrades are also available for those who prefer extra comfort, and if you’d rather make your own arrangements, there’s a course-only option as well.
