Day One: Kayaking the Source of the Nile

 

Your journey begins in Jinja, where one of our guides will be waiting to welcome you and take you to the peaceful Nile River Explorers Camp, perched right on the river’s edge. After settling into your dorm, you’ll set off for a relaxing kayaking tour across Lake Victoria, right where the Nile begins its incredible 3,000-mile journey to the Mediterranean.

You’ll paddle in a stable sit-on-top kayak, enjoying the scenery and maybe even a refreshing gin and tonic as your guide shares stories about the river’s history, local wildlife, and culture. Glide past bird islands, fishermen, and landmarks such as Speke’s discovery point, Gandhi’s monument, and the site of the old Owen Falls rapids.

After your paddle, you’ll return to camp for a delicious dinner and a relaxing evening overlooking the Nile, before spending the night in the comfortable dorm accommodation.

Day Two: White Water Kayaking and Instruction

 

On day two, your white-water adventure kicks off right at Nile River Explorers (NRE). After a tasty breakfast overlooking the river, you’ll start with an easy 6–8 km warm-up on flat water, getting comfortable in your kayak and learning how to steer, control your boat, and practice some simple rescues with help from your instructor.

After a relaxed riverside lunch, it’s time for your first real taste of white-water! You’ll paddle 8–10 km through fun, deep grade III rapids—perfect for beginners and full of excitement. The focus is on building confidence and having a great time, with our experienced instructors and safety kayakers by your side all the way.

After your day on the river, you’ll head back to NRE to relax, enjoy dinner, and spend the night in the comfortable dorm accommodation.

Day Three: Tandem Kayaking the Big Rapids

 

After a hearty breakfast, you'll set off on an exhilarating 25 km journey down the Nile with one of our expert tandem kayak guides. This full-day trip takes you through some of the river’s most exciting grade 5 rapids. No prior experience is needed, just bring your energy and sense of adventure!

In your tandem kayak, you’ll sit in the front, providing the power, while your guide steers from the back, giving real-time instruction and helping with any rollbacks. Each rapid is followed by calm stretches, giving you time to recover, enjoy the scenery, and swap stories before the next thrill.

The day finishes back at Nile River Explorers Camp, where you can relax and celebrate your epic adventure.
